Petar Vlaykov Head Manager of State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv
Education
Petar Vlaykov is a graduate of the Humanitarian High School in the city of Plovdiv. He graduated as a bachelor in 2011 from the "Paisiy Hilendarski" University of Performing Arts - specialty "Acting" in the class of Prof. Dr. Elisaveta Sotirova. Later he became a guest lecturer at the same university as an assistant in the classes of Assoc. Prof. Leonard Capon from 2011 to 2023. He got a Master's degree in Art Management at the Acedemy for Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv in 2017.
Creative biography
From 2010 to 2019 he was an actor in the troupe of the Haskovo "Ivan Dimov" Theater. From the end of 2019 to mid-2020 - Manager of the State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv, and from May 2020 until now - its Head Manager.
Since 2020, he has been a member of the board of directors of the Association of Puppet Theaters AKT-UNIMA, Bulgaria. He was elected for Chairman of the board of the Association for the period of 2024 to 2027. In 2021 he became a co-founder and member of the board of directors of the Association of Employers in the Theater Industry - ARTO.
Petar Vlaykov has participated in over 50 different performances for children and adults in his acting career, has starred in several Bulgarian and English-language films. He is the author of the plays "Pretending is Beautiful" (premiere 2018 at the Haskovo "Ivan Dimov" Theater, dir. Elin Rahnev with the title "Happy Wife") and "4 Women Without 4G" (premiere 2021 at the Kazanlak "Lyubomir Kabakchiev" Theater, dir. Dimitar Zhivkov). He co-authored and took part in the plays "Understudy" and "If Ronaldo Were Chekhov" with the team led by Elin Rahnev. Co-author and director of the children's puppet play "While Santa Claus Was Sleeping" (premiere 2017 at the Haskovo I"van Dimov" Theater). His poems, plays and stories have been published in various collections and anthologies.
Awards
Winner of the national competition for debut literature "Southern Spring" and winner of the "Pegasus" award; winner of the award from the International Festival "Road Holidays" - "New Bulgarian Drama"; "New Horizons" award from the European Festival of Traveling Theater; two acting awards from the National Puppet Theater Festival "Mikhail Lakatnik", winner of the national competition for horror stories of the publishing house "Lit-design" 2023.
