THE FESTIVAL JURY GAVE OUT FOUR AWARDS
The competitive program of the International Puppet Theatre Festival "Three Are Too Many, Two - Not Enough" ended on September 8th with an award ceremony. The jury of Zornitsa Kamenova, PhD /chairperson/, Olesya Krenskaya and Edin Kmetas gave out awards in the following categories:
- “Best Performance” - Ljubljana Puppet Theatre for “Somewhere Else”;
- “Directing” - David Zuazola for “The Walker”, David Zuazola and Unia Teatr Niemozliwy
- “Set Design and Puppets” - Ivaylo Nikolov and Iva Gikova for “Tall Tales with Letters”, Sofia Puppet Theatre;
- “Best Puppet Animation” - Bilyana Raynova, Vasilena Chernaeva, Iliyaz Ilyaz, and Stanislav Matev for “The Big Hat”, State Puppet Theatre Stara Zagora.
The jury gave out three Special Recognition awards:
- "Conveying Socially Significant Themes to Children" - the team of “Muff, Half-shoe and Moss Beard”, Nikolay Binev Youth Theatre;
- “Artistic Bravery and Impactful Reflection on Current Issues” - the team of “Shakespeare X 5”, Hand Theatre;
- “Story Adaptation” - Ivan Kolev for “The Steadfast Tin Soldier”, State Puppet Theatre Varna.
For the third time, a special award for inspiration "neviDIMO dete" was presented in memory of Dimo Stoyanov - P.I.F. The idea for the prize was Maria Banova's, Dimo's longtime companion on the puppet stage. She presented the award to Ljubljana Puppet Theatre for the performance “Somewhere Else”. The presentation was accompanied by sand drawings by the actress Sonia Boteva - fragments of the show "What a Crocodile!", the music of which was composed by Dimo.
The organizers of the festival express their deep gratitude to the Ministry of culture and Municipality Plovdiv; to all participants and guests of the festival; to the volunteers who became part of the team; to the sponsors - for their support to the puppetry art and especially to the spectators, who are the meaning of the work of each artist!
