IPTF "Three Are Too Many, Two - Not Enough"

Plovdiv will once again become the capital of puppetry art – from September 4 to 9, 2025, the 26th edition of the International Puppet Theatre Festival "Three Are Too Many, Two - Not Enough"  and the 12th International Festival of Street Arts TheatAir will take place.

The festival will bring together artists from 7 countries, presenting a diverse program – from classical puppet productions to contemporary experimental performances. Among the participants are leading troupes from Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Spain, Iran, and the Netherlands.

As part of the festival, audiences will also enjoy two secret concerts – on September 5 and 6 at the summer stage of the Puppet Theatre. The group or performer will remain a surprise until the very last moment, making the experience even more exciting.

The program will feature premieres, international guest performances, exhibitions, concerts, and discussions dedicated to puppetry. The culmination of the festival will be the performance “Blind” by the Dutch company Duda Paiva Company, which will close the forum on September 9.

Running parallel to the main program, the street arts module TheatAir (September 4–7) will fill the city center and neighborhoods of Plovdiv with parades, fire shows, acrobatics, and street performances. Tsar Simeon Garden and the parks across the districts will come alive with interactive shows for children and adults alike.

The festival is organized by the NGO "Three Are Too Many, Two - Not Enough"  and the State Puppet Theatre – Plovdiv, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Plovdiv Municipality. The event is realized in partnership with the Municipal Institute “Ancient Plovdiv”, ACT–UNIMA Bulgaria, and the Fire and Shadow Theatre Fireter, as well as with the support of KCM 2000 Holding, Party Drinks Ltd., Malkata Ida Confectionery, and Orbico Bulgaria.
