On October 31, the premiere of the family play "The Canterville Ghost" will take place. The play is dramatized and directed by Elitsa Petkova, the set design and puppets are by Iva Gikova and Ivaylo Nikolov, the music is by composer Plamen Petkov. The team is a multiple winner of the IKAR Award for puppetry, including for "The Invisible Tonino" at the Puppet Theater - Plovdiv in 2023.
The story of the meeting between the American Otis family, who are not afraid of anything and believe that everything can be bought with money, and Sir Simon Canterville - the ghost of the mansion, who has been terrifying for five centuries, is played out on stage. The pragmatic, modern man meets the ghosts of the past. And if their chains creak too much, there is always a solution in an advertisement - a good enough preparation, a good enough promotion.
The performance poses to the audience current and painful questions - is there a way for generations to meet and accept each other? Is there a way to respect without fear? And if asked, can we step back and pay homage to the past?
For the premiere evening, for those who choose to dress up and become part of the spooky Halloween atmosphere, the theater team has prepared a special photo corner. All children are welcome from 10:00 to 18:30 to have their pictures taken in the puppet theater, and then the guests of the premiere will be able to take pictures.
On 24.10, an open rehearsal of the performance was held, specially organized for students from theater schools in Plovdiv. After the show, the artists and children held a discussion in which the young theatergoers asked their questions about the intricacies of puppetry, shared what excited them, and some of them even tried to lead the puppets with the help of the actors from the troupe.
The actors Viliana Dimitrova, Daniela Ruseva, Elin Stoyanova, Natalia Vasileva, Velizar Evtimov, Lambreti Kolev, Stayko Staykov participate in the performance.
Tickets for the premiere performance sold out in a matter of days. The next dates on which you can watch "The Canterbury Ghost" are November 12 /Tuesday/ and December 5 /Thursday/ at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the theater box office and online at entase.bg
