World Puppetry Day

Dear friends, on March 21st we once again invite you to celebrate the World Puppetry Day together!

From 11:00 a.m. you will have the opportunity to be among the first spectators of our latest performance "The Brave Lumberjack".
• Free entrance until seats are filled.

Twice during the day - from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00 - you will be able to enjoy the special experience offered by our "Tale of the Lead Soldier" puppet miniature. Based on the tale of H.Cr. Andersen, the miniature is played by one actor for one viewer - a unique encounter and personal experience incomparable to any other form of theatrical performance. The miniature is 11 minutes long and is played at the ground floor of the theater. Entrance - through the lobby of the theater.
• The seats are limited. With advance registration at the theater box office. Free entrance.

Traditionally, on this day, the Association of Puppet Theaters UNIMA - Bulgaria presents the "Sivina"* award for debuting young puppeteer. This year the ceremony will be held at Sofia Puppet Theater, and our young actress Kalina Valcheva has been nominated for the roles of Ronya in "Ronya, the Robber's Daughter" and Piglet in "Winnie the Pooh".

The World Puppetry Day is celebrated by the decision of the International Union of Puppet Theaters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). After a decision of the Union in 2003, March 21 was designated as the International Day for the promotion and support of the art of puppetry - this captivating magic for both children and adults.

* The Sivina Award was established in 2009 after Sivina Sivinova, who was one of the brightest young actresses in the Sofia Puppet Theatre. The name of the award is a tribute and recognition to the work of the entire talented Plovdiv acting family Sivinovi - Ivan, Vanya, Nina and Sivina.
