description
Oh, how rich and glorious the city of Hameln was. There was happiness and abundance all around, people lived wealthy and with lots of children. But happiness just can not last forever and one day a disaster came over the city – all the wheat reserves, and they were plenty, started to disappear. Rats attacked and destroyed everything without leaving even a grain of rye and wheat. The hunger made people evil and isolated till the morning when in the city came a foreigner who knew how to save them from the rats. He asked in return for some gold and to marry the daughter of the mayor. The citizens quickly accepted the demands of the savior and the miracle happened – the rat-hunter took out his magic flute and started playing. The melody was like an enchanting magnet and all the rats followed the melody and the musician to the banks of Weser river where all the animals drowned. Oh, how happy were the people of Hameln, happy but greedy and ungrateful since they refused to give what they have promised just for a saving song. The rat-hunter was cast out and the citizens started celebrating their liberty – so loud, so furious that were unable to hear the enchanting music playing again and unable to see that their own children are now following the musician.
This German legend of honor and the power of a promise, of the strength of the given word, of avidity and revenge, comes to life on the stage of the theatre in order to point out the eternal themes – do we appreciate our feelings and happy moments, while pursuing our dreams, how big actually are these dreams of ours!? Do you know how to feel joy instead of envy, do we care about our souls or is it all reduced to contract terms, can we love and respect the opinion that is different from ours, can we accept it… What example do we give to those, who will inherit the rivers, the cities, the Earth… “The Children from Hameln” is a different, defying performance in which you yourself can be participants. Come and play with us!
